Mirrors

Why do we use mirrors? My guess is that usually people use a mirror before they leave to go somewhere, to check and make sure that their appearance is "satisfactory". But why? Who is really the judge of what is suitable for dress when we venture outside? Everyone else? or YOU, the individual? This standard practice gives a lot of control and influence to the outside, while robbing from the individual. It's strange that something so material as the skin we where is put on such a high pedestal, does it really reflect who we are? Perhaps, if we're going base and pass judgement on someone based on their appearance, what they're wearing, how their hair looks etc. I would like to suggest not using a mirror, this is a tool that is sub-par for reflection. It doesn't really work that well, unless you're really that concerned about being accepted by people who will judge you based on what you have, and what you look like. I would like to suggest that the most precise instrument for true reflection is to look within. When you do this you can really discover who you are and what you truly appear to be.

That reminded me of it. It's a good read if you like Gothic fiction. I've always enjoyed the underlying themes and moral the book gives.
